My story does not need to become yours.
See, for over five years, I voiced concerning symptoms to every medical professional in my life. Unheard. Unseen. And then shit got real, fast. There was blood on the toilet paper that was unusual and symptoms that grew pervasively more concerning. It was clear things were not normal. Yet, this was dismissed as something that came with giving birth, striving for perfection and being overreactive. As blood became brighter and more prevalent, I knew I needed to BE SEEN. And then I was diagnosed with Stage 3b Rectal Cancer. It rocked our family to the core and nearly took my life.
The stinger: it never had to happen. Butt cancer (aka - colorectal cancer!) is preventable and avoidable with early detection tools we have available today. If only people had the awareness, access and took action to avoid colorectal cancer in their lifetime.
This is why we launched a movement to amplify important topics that deserve to BE SEEN supported by the BE SEEN Foundation.
Together will never give up until we eradicate death by colorectal cancer. Because we can today with the tools and tests already available.
